In June of 2005, four Cornell Hotel School Graduates purchased the then bankrupt Northwoods Inn which was in turn, the reincarnation of the Hotel Marcy. After some false starts, an economy that many thought signaled the end of the world, and after beginning to learn the ins and outs of the seasonality of business in the Adirondacks, those owners and their investors have renovated this Lake Placid landmark so that it may now take its place as one of the notable and most memorable of lodging facilities in the Northeast.
A milestone was achieved in May of 2012, when the Northern Exposure Restaurant was rebranded as Delta Blue, the Open Mic Blues Jam was born on Wednesday nights, and world class Blues Artists began to appear weekly on the Main Stage, on the Main Street in Lake Placid. From this beginning, The Lake Placid Blues and Heritage Festival was born, which now occurs annually, each Father’s Day Weekend.
The Hotel Northwoods has committed itself to promoting and assisting with generating a renewed sense of the importance in the Arts and Humanities of this historic small town, through sponsorship of the Lake Placid Chamber Music Program with the Lake Placid Institute, sponsorship of the Lake Placid Blues and Heritage Festival, sponsorship of the Lake Placid Woodcarving Experience, though exhibitions in The Cabin Gallery, as well as through support and contributions to numerous other civic and charitable organizations in Lake Placid and the surrounding areas.
Today, the Hotel North Woods continues to redefine affordable hospitality in its pre-eminent Lake Placid location. It has recently upgraded wi-fi and cable alternatives through the installation of fiber optics cable and connections throughout the hotel. We invite you to experience the excitement and warmth of Lake Placid with us at this Historic landmark Hotel.
