Whiteface Mountain Oktoberfest

The weekend of October 1st starts off our Fall festivals with a tall mug of beer (or two), preferably German-made. This festival celebrates Germanic Culture with food, drink & music. There are also opportunities for children to enjoy rides and activities. Take the family for a tour of Little Whiteface with a trip on the Cloudspitter Gondola for a highlight of your trip. For more information check out the full schedule of the day’s events.  This is also a great time to see the fall colors as the leaves will be perfect for Leaf Peeping Tours.

Flaming Leaves Festival

The weekend after Oktoberfest, another fantastic festival makes it’s appearance. The Flaming Leaves Festival celebrates Ski Jumping in all it’s autumn glory. This event is perfect for the whole family. Ski jumpers from all around the country will compete throughout the weekend. There will be live entertainment with blues music and lot of great BBQ to eat. Craft vendors will be on hand as well, while you spend the day enjoying the fall weather. Head on up to the top of the Ski jump, for a spectacular view of the region. The leaves will be eye-popping and picture perfect, so don’t forget your camera.

Essex County Cheese Tour

Do you love cheese like we do? Are you a farm-to-table foodie? If so, this Fall event should be at the top of your list. From farm to the table you’ll be able to tour three creameries that open their doors to the public for this exclusive tour. North Country Creamery, Asgaard Farm, and Sugar House Creamery will all offer farm tours and cheese samples throughout the day on October 9th. Explore how cheese is made at these local creameries and stick around for lunch. This is also a great opportunity to catch the colorful leaves changing colors. Make sure to have lots of fun at this mooving event!

Brewfest

If you love a local craft brew and enjoy chatting with brewers, this is your go-to event this Fall. Saturday, October 15th ushers in the 5th annual Lake Placid Brewfest. This festival is held at the Lake Placid Olympic Center and hosts a slurry of breweries locally and from around the country. Chat with any of the on-site brewers for more information about hops and beer making. There are three ticket options, but we recommend the VIP ticket which allows for a longer sampling event. This event is within a 5-minute walking distance to Hotel North Woods, so no need to stick your younger brother with the designated driver role… AGAIN.

Whether you choose to enjoy the crisp autumn air or the taste of local cheese and beer, enjoy the Adirondack region this fall for all your seasonal festive flare. We hope to see you this fall at Hotel North Woods to experience your New York resort vacation of a lifetime.
