Lake Placid named one of America’s ‘prettiest towns’
LAKE PLACID – The village of Lake Placid has been named one of the 20 “prettiest towns” in America, according to ForbesTraveler.com.
Lake Placid was lauded for its “classic Main Street, pine-speckled hills and pristine small lakes” by Sarah Tuff Dunn, a travel writer who co-authored the book “101 Best Outdoor Towns” with fellow travel writer Greg Melville.
Melville described Lake Placid as “the closest you can get to living out West when you’re in the East.”
“It’s got the jagged mountain backdrop surrounding an unpretentious ski village bordered by two crystal lakes,” he wrote.
