We are excited to announce that renovations have officially begun here at the Northwoods Inn! Construction started on Monday, March 9th and will continue through early June.
As part of our renovation efforts, we’ve partnered with Homeward Bound Adirondacks and Madden’s Transfer of Saranac Lake to get much of the furniture we are replacing to veterans in our region and in the Northeast. All furniture removed from the Hotel will be delivered for distribution to Family Champions in Tupper Lake by Madden’s Transfer. For veterans, their families and others in need in the Tri-Lakes area of the Adirondacks, furniture will be available through Family Champions beginning on March 20th.
Furniture will also be available for distribution to veterans in eastern Massachusetts and Northeastern New York through Soldier On, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization committed to ending veteran homelessness, and through Salvation Army distribution centers in Albany and Northeastern New York.
Northwoods Inn partner Gary Smith, a Vietnam Veteran, said “the furniture which is being donated is in good condition and should be helpful to veterans and others who wish to avail themselves of this opportunity. We needed to update our furnishings and want to make sure that what is being removed has a second life.”
Those wishing additional information about how to obtain this furniture should contact Cheryl Vaillancourt of Family Champions at 518-359-3010, or Maggie Porter of Soldier On, at 413-441-5728.
